This is my usual annual reminder that you have to check your Xfinity plan, which changes all the time. This year, in 2025, as an example, we were on the 800Mbps/40Mbps plan with $30 for unlimited data at $78. But a quick look shows that the plan is going to $119/month!
So first of all, don’t be discouraged, XFinity does *not* put any downgrade plans on at all, so you have to chat. They will only upsell you, and there is no way that I can find to get rid of unlimited data.
You would think that this would be illegal.
In fact, the site has changed so much that you can’t figure out how much data you are using. You have to ask the Xfinity assistant.
The net is that the price is now $85/month for 500Mbps/30Mbps, but this includes unlimited data, and most of the time we are way below that. So go save yourself some money
On the other hand, just a few blocks over, it is $69 for 200Mbps/200Mbps symmetric, and there is no lower plan. So Internet in America is costly 🙁
