People never tell me anything, but trolling through Alex Tong‘s site and he mentions, “He’s the 2019 North American Junior 505 champion”. I’m like, what? No one tells me anything, but being 10 of 40 boats where 5 of the top best boats in the world are sailing is incredible. Nice work and sometimes you just are good and bet right, like taking 2nd in a 2nd day race.
But it is a good example of: a) sailing regatta records seem to live forever and b) Alex is a modest dude.
So betting on the day when all these sites go down, I’m caching them here:
- 2019 North Americans 505. Alex and Jackson place 10 of 40 boats and win the Junior. Kingston ON, a familiar spot for us.
- 2017 Gill Co-ed College Nationals. Tufts finishes 14th in the Nation. June 1-2 in Charleston. Nice place to watch a regatta (they have an aircraft carrier museum there). And it was HOT!!!!
- 2015 Gill Co-ed College Nationals. Tufts University finished 9th. June 3-4. Salve Regina and Brown sponsored at Newport RI (the NY Yacht Club is a nice spot!). You need a board though
- 2014 Gill Co-ed College Nationals. At St Mary’s in Maryland and Tufts University finishes 5th! What a nice place to watch
