cell: US Mobile magic multiple networks

One of the cool things about US Mobile, besides the incredibly low price of $33/month if you pay annually, is that it includes 100GB of data in the US and 50GB of high-speed hotspot data per month. Plus, you can choose between Dark Star (AT&T), Warp (Verizon), and LightSpeed (T-Mobile) by TelePortal.

Besides better coverage, no matter where you live, pick Dark Star if you are traveling. You get 20GB in the EU, 10GB in Singapore, and it’s fast.

If you are mainly in the US, then Verizon gives you a free Apple Watch plan, which costs normally $10/month but is just $6.50 as an add-on and is free with Verizon.

It is a bit of a pain to switch back and forth. They say that it’s just a few minutes, but at least for me, when the US Mobile app says switch, it does take a few minutes, but it takes quite a bit longer for the networks to switch. The confusing thing is that for a while, you will see two eSIMs with the same number activated, and then after turning them on and off, the old one will disappear.

The same is true with the Apple Watch activation. They say you just turn the watch off and on, but I found that you have to go to the watch app on your phone, and in cellular, click on setup connection.

Oh, and the other detail is that when you switch networks, iMessage will lose track of your phone number, so go to Settings > Apps > Messages > iMessages and turn your phone number back on.
