Wel gizmo’s are wonderful, I have a Chef’s Choice 120 and it is a great knife sharpener which Cooks Illustrated recommended, but here are some other choices:
- Chef’s choice 110. Is decent a step below the 120, but cheaper. City Kitchen’s carries the 115 which looks pretty close to the 120. As an aside, for the true aficionados (or people lucky enough to have shun knives), you have to learn to sharpen and hone yourself, but this is decent choice for decent steel.
- Panini grills. Who has time to review stuff like this, but galtech does. The Cuisinart GR-1 Griddler Panini and Sandwich Press is a top seller on Amazon and just $50. It has a floating hing so you can make really big sandwiches 🙂 and the DeLonghi CGH800-U Retro Panini Grill is alos top rated. Both about $50. Bed, Bath and Beyond also seems to carry this one.

i get my kitchen blades sharpened professionally here: http://www.seattleknifesharpening.com/. amazing, surgically sharp when done.
That makes lots of sense, will do that immediately, I’m no professional, so maybe honing at home and then sharpening there.
Its so easy, you just drop them off at the UPS Store in Capitol Hill or Wallingford and then get them back at some point…
